The competition returns to this year’s National Ploughing Championship.

Enterprise Ireland’s Annual Innovation Arena Awards 2022 have been officially launched, as the competition physically returns to this year’s National Ploughing Championship event, in Ratheniska, Co Laois

The Innovation Arena Competition, which is run in partnership with the National Ploughing Association, is an annual competition that invites businesses and innovators in the agritech sector to enter their pioneering agri-related products and services for consideration.

There are a number of prizes across several categories, and those who are short-listed will be invited to showcase their products and innovative agritech solutions at the ‘Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena’, alongside the winners from the virtual competition in 2020 and 2021.

The Overall Winner, and the winner of the Sustainable Agriculture Award last year, was marine biotech company Brandon Bioscience in Tralee, Co Kerry. Developed in collaboration with the fertiliser manufacturer Target Fertilisers, the winning entry was an innovative new biostimulant product using extracts from common brown seaweed that has the potential to reduce nitrogen use on farms by up to 20%.

The award categories in this year’s competition includes the Established Company ‘Innovator of the Year Award’, the Start-up Company ‘Innovator of the Year Award’ 2022, the Sustainable Agriculture Award, Agri-Safety Award and Young Innovator of the Year.

Innovators and entrepreneurs in the agriculture sector are now invited to submit applications.

The closing date for applications is the 1st June.
